Bears Race Huskies
BERKELEY - This Saturday, California races the University of Washington on the California home course at Redwood Shores. The “Dual”' is always a fierce battle and is known as one of collegiate rowing's most highly contested events, featuring the consistently top-ranked programs in the country.
Last year, the Golden Bears pulled off an impressive win against the Huskies up in Seattle; this year, California will look to defend that title on its home race course. During the past month, Cal coaches have been refining their lineups and building speed with this weekend in mind. This weekend is when the Bears will see the results of all the training that they've put in over the last eight months.
Racing will proceed as follows:
9:00 a.m.- The men's third varsity
9:24 a.m. - The men's fours
9:48 a.m. - The men's freshmen eight
10:12 a.m. - The men's second varsity
10:36 a.m. - The men's first varsity
The Cal/Washington Dual comes to the Bay once every two years and is an opportunity to see some of the finest crews in collegiate rowing face off. All parents and supporters are strongly encouraged to come and cheer for their team. Friends of Cal Crew will be on hand to greet new parents and supporters at the Cal tent.
Results will be posted on the men's crew page of CalBears.com following the event.
