ST. HELENA, Calif. – California's Andre Goransson and Billy Griffith each won in singles and then combined to win in doubles on Saturday to stay unbeaten at the Porsche Napa Valley Tennis Classic at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort. Griffith, the defending singles champion in Napa ranked 61st in the Oracle/ITA preseason poll, defeated the 71st-ranked Harrison Scott of Texas, 6-2, 6-2, to improve to 2-0 in group 8.

"We had another positive day today at Meadowood, with our guys showing their experience in some tough matches," Cal head coach Peter Wright said. "This was our second day of going 5-1, and it's great to see our players playing at this level so early in the season."

Goransson, a senior ranked 17th, beat the Longhorns' Yuya Ito, 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-3, to move to 2-0 in group 2.

In doubles, the two Bears knocked off Tulsa's Dominic Bechard/Okkie Kellerman, 6-2.

Also in Napa, Cal senior Florian Lakat, ranked 13th, fell to USC's 48th-ranked Logan Smith, 6-3, 6-4, in group 4, while 77th-ranked senior teammate Filip Bergevi knocked off the Trojans' 27th-ranked Nick Crystal, 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-2.
