Track Begins 2017 With Wins At UW Invite
SEATTLE --- The 2017 campaign for the California track and field program got off to a solid start on the first day of the University of Washington Invitational Friday. The Golden Bears produced a pair of victories and four top-three finishes with an limited number of athletes competing.
Cal found success on each side of the facility:
Robert Brandt finished first on the track in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:05.08 and
Destiny Parker claimed the Weight Throw in the field with a toss of 64-1.25. Brandt's triumphant time was nine seconds better than Portland's Danny Martin while Parker edged out Stanford's Valerie Allman.by nearly one foot.
Bethan Knights produced the Bears' lone second place finish as her 16:15.54 mark in the top section of the 5000 meters withstood 28 challengers in the second heat to maintain runner-up status. The quartet of

Nuria Tio Peig produced a third place showing in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 11:40.36
