Hometown Hero: Ivan Rabb
Cal men's basketball continues its multi-season series on members of the squad and their hometowns with the first Hometown Heroes installment of 2016-17, featuring forward Ivan Rabb. The sophomore out of East Oakland details his childhood growing up just down the highway from the UC Berkeley campus, while his mom, Tami Rabb, and best friend, Boise State's Paris Austin, shed light Rabb's connection with the Golden Bears.
Rabb enters the second week of Pac-12 play leading the league in rebounding and defensive rebounds, and ranks in the top 30 in the country in defensive rebounds per game (10th, 7.92), rebounds per game (24th, 10.3) and double-doubles (28th, 6). He's coming off a productive first weekend of conference action that saw him average 15.5 rebounds per game, including a career-high 16 boards against No. 18 Arizona.
