STOCKTON, Calif. – Three Golden Bears will compete for titles on Monday's finals at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, as seniors J.T. Nishimura and Billy Griffith advanced in the doubles main draw while freshman Jack Molloy triumphed in the singles semifinals on Sunday at the University of Pacific's Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
 
As a regional singles finalist, Molloy has already qualified to play in the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in November. Griffith and Nishimura would have to win the doubles final to earn an automatic spot at nationals.
 
In the doubles semifinals, the top-seeded and 39th-ranked pair of Griffith and Nishimura outlasted Gonzaga's Sam Feit and Ruadhan O'Sullivan, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(3).
 
The Cal veterans will face Oregon's third-seeded Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent in the doubles final at 10 a.m. on Monday.
 
Three Bears competed in the singles main draw on Sunday, with 12th-seeded Cal freshman Paul Barretto upsetting Stanford's sixth-seeded Sameer Kuman, 6-1, 6-4, in the quarterfinals, and the eighth-seeded Jacob Brumm falling to Portland's second-seeded and 95th-ranked Michail Pervolarakis, 6-2, 6-2. The fifth-seeded Molloy, meanwhile, topped Portland State's 17th-seeded Nathan Boniel, 6-1, 6-3.
 
Molloy followed with a 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-4 victory over San Francisco's 11th-seeded Johan Jonhagen in the semifinals. But hopes of an all-Cal freshmen final were dashed in the semis, as Barretto lost to Pervolarakis, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Molloy will face Pervolarakis in the singles final at 10 a.m. as the regional comes to a close on Monday.
