TULSA, Okla./SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal seniors J.T. Nishimura and Billy Griffith pushed Wisconsin's Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge for a spot in the consolation doubles semifinals on Saturday at the Saint Francis Health System All-American Championships. But the Badgers ultimately prevailed, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5.

The loss ended the Golden Bears' run at the All-American, which concludes with the finals on Monday. Cal's run included freshmen Jacob Brumm and Jack Molloy competing in pre-qualifying singles, Nishimura playing in qualifying singles and Griffith competing in main draw singles at the first major college tournament of the 2017-18 season.

"We had two freshmen and two seniors at the All-American in Tulsa, and it was a great experience for all of them," Cal head coach Peter Wright said. "Our freshmen got a taste of how the best players in college play, and our seniors played some of the best doubles of their careers. We have a young, talented, energetic team this year, and I'm looking forward to the journey."
