Trio Signs National Letters Of Intent

Connor Golembeski, Cooper Hunt And James Song To Join Cal Men’s Golf In August Of 2018

BERKELEY – Cal has signed a trio of golfers – Connor Golembeski, Cooper Hunt and James Song – to national letters of intent Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golfer Walter Chun announced Wednesday. The three current high school seniors will arrive at Cal in August of 2018.

A pair of the signees are ranked in the Top 100 of the current Golfweek/Sagarin Boys Junior Rankings with Song at No. 73 and Golembeski checking in at No. 94, while Hunt is ranked No. 482.

Song played in the 2016 U.S. Amateur and is a two-time U.S. Junior Amateur match-play qualifier. He was also a recent winner at the 2017 AJGA Callaway Golf Junior Championship at Vista Valley Country Club, while Golembeski (WJGA District 2 Championship) and Hunt (2016 FCWT Open at Classic Club) were both individual medalists in 2016.

"This is a great recruiting class that will instantly help us towards attaining our goal of a national championship," Chun said. "All three of our signees are great fits at Cal that are equally dedicated to their academic studies and will pursue excellence in the classroom as well as the golf course. We are extremely fortunate to have their commitments and look forward to their arrival next August."
