PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif.  –  The Cal women's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the spring season, finishing T-11 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.

The Golden Bears finished +33 (885) in the field of 15 teams, which featured 10 teams ranked in the top 25 of the Golfstat team rankings. USC won the tournament for the second consecutive year, finishing +4 (856).

Freshman Maria Herraez put together an impressive showing in just her second collegiate tournament, finishing in a tie for 14^th at three-over par (216). The Madrid-native, who finished T-47 at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in September, shot par on 38 of 54 holes this tournament, tied for the second-most by any player in the field. Herraez is Cal's second top-10 finisher this season, with sophomore Amina Wolf finishing tied for eighth at the Stanford Invitational in October. Herraez shot a one-under 70 in the second round, the lowest round by any Cal player this tournament.

Senior Lucia Gutierrez, who had eagle on 16 in the opening round, shot even par on the day to finish T-31 (220).

The Bears will be back in action on February 27, teeing off at the Bruin Wave Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
