Callahan Heads To Pac-12 Championships
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Before the Cal men's swimming team heads to Washington to compete against the rest of the Pac-12, freshman
Connor Callahan will look to kick off what the Bears hope will be a productive postseason when he competes in the Pac-12 Diving Championships from Feb. 22-25.
Both men's and women's diving will be contested at the same time as the women's swimming championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Competition begins Wednesday with the 1-meter, continues Thursday with the 3-meter and wraps up Friday with the platform. Men's swimming begins March 1.
Callahan heads north with the momentum of a strong freshman season behind him. The North Carolina native finished second in the platform at the Bruin Diving Invitational, then continued that roll against Arizona by winning both the 1-meter and the 3-meter.
One day after winning against Arizona, Callahan posted his top scores of the season in a dual meet at Arizona State with a mark of 355.05 in the 1-meter and 382.65 in the 3-meter. He returned to Berkeley and made a significant impact on Cal's dual meet win over USC, winning the 1-meter and placing second in the 3-meter.
After competing at the Pac-12 Championships, Callahan will return to Berkeley for a brief spell before heading to Flagstaff, Ariz. to compete in the NCAA Zone E Championships from March 6-8 at Northern Arizona University. The NCAA Championships will be held March 23-25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
