Bears Wrap Up Competition At NCAA Indoors
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Three California runners completed action at the 2017 NCAA Indoor National Championships on Saturday from College Station, Texas.Â
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ashtyn Davis finished sixth with a time of 7.83. He PRed on Friday in the semifinals with his time of 7.71.
In the 3000 meters,
Garrett Corcoran crossed the finish line with a time of 8:20.31.
Finally,
Thomas Joyce clocked in at 4:16.77 in the mile.Â
"What a phenomenal meet today with the men's team title down to the anchor legs of Texas A&M and Florida," Cal director of track & field
Tony Sandoval said. "The noise and electricity today rivals any meet except the Olympics in this intimate facility. We talked about three podium student-athletes tonight, but only Ashtyn was able to score in the top 8. He stumbled at the start, caught himself with both hands to recover and demonstrated great poise to battle back. Thomas and Garrett ran courageously early in their races. I know all three will learn from today and build towards a bigger outdoor season. Qualifying for indoor nationals is such an honor and only very few leave satisfied with their results at a championship meet."
With the indoor portion of the 2017 season complete, the Bears return to outdoor competition at the Hornet Invitational from March 17-18 in Sacramento.
