LONG BEACH – The No. 15 Cal beach volleyball team dropped a pair of duals to two of the top teams in the nation Monday, falling to No. 6 Long Beach State 5-0 and No. 3 UCLA 4-1.

Cal's No. 4 pair of freshmen Nicole Anderson and Iya Lindahl notched the sole match victory for the Golden Bears, defeating UCLA's Jordan Anderson and Izzy Carey, 21-15, 21-18.

The Bears' No. 5 pair of junior Teya Neff and Bridget Gustafson lost a thriller to Long Beach State's Megan Kruidhof and Jenelle Hudson. The Cal duo staved off five set points in the first set, erasing a 20-15 deficit to win 25-23. After the Bears dropped the second set, the third set went overtime before the 49ers' pair finally won 17-15.

Cal (8-3) will continue to face stiff competition Tuesday when it visits No. 1 USC at 4 p.m. The dual will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
