FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sophomore Phoebe LaMay qualified for her second diving event at the NCAA Championships Tuesday, earning a spot in the 1-meter springboard competition at the Zone E meet one day after claiming her place on 3-meter.

LaMay stood in sixth place after 1-meter prelims with a score of 284.55 to advance to the afternoon finals where she maintained her position, ending with a combined score of 579.65. Each of the top 11 divers advanced to the NCAA meet, which will be held March 15-18 in Indianapolis.

Senior Hayden Tavoda qualified for the 1-meter finals based on her prelim total of 263.55, which put her in 14th place. But she was unable to improve, finishing with a score of 530.15.

As a freshman, LaMay competed on the 1-meter board at the NCAA Championships, where she placed 22nd. This season, she set school records on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards and was named the Pac-12 Diver of the Month for November.

Both LaMay and Tavoda will be back in action Wednesday when they will attempt to qualify for the national meet on platform.
