BERKELEY – After posting four wins in the Pacific Northwest, California senior Florian Lakat claimed the second Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor of the season and of his career on Monday.

This is Cal's 27th all-time Pac-12 Player of the Week accolade for men's tennis. The Golden Bears have won the honor three times this season, including on Feb. 20 (Lakat) and March 27 (Andre Goransson).

Last Friday, the 15th-ranked Lakat clinched the No. 12 Golden Bears come-from-behind, 4-3 victory at No. 23 Oregon when he defeated No. 26 Thomas Laurent, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, at court-one singles. Earlier, the fourth-ranked pair of Lakat and Filip Bergevi beat the Ducks' Jayson Amos and Ty Gentry, 7-5, on court one to clinch the doubles point.

On Sunday, Lakat and Bergevi beat Jake Douglas and Piers Foley, 6-2, at court-one doubles, and later Lakat knocked off the 90th-ranked Mitch Stewart, 6-2, 6-2, also on court one.

With the Pac-12 tournament on the horizon, Lakat and the Bears close out the regular season when they host Stanford in the Big Slam at 3:30 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
