TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 20 Cal beach volleyball team suffered a pair of narrow losses in the desert Friday, falling to New Mexico and No. 19 Arizona State, each by a score of 3-2.

The Bears (13-9) have now lost six duals by a 3-2 score.

Cal's No. 3 pair of junior Bryce Bark and freshman Camille Stepanof won both of their matches in straight sets, extending their winning streak to five.

The Bears' No. 5 pair of junior Teya Neff and freshman Bridget Gustafson played in a pair of highly competitive matches, beating New Mexico's pair 21-19, 10-21, 15-13 before dropping a heartbreaker to the Sun Devils, 21-17, 19-21, 17-15.

Cal's all-freshmen No. 4 pair of Iya Lindahl and Nicole Anderson staged an impressive comeback victory against ASU, prevailing 7-21, 22-20, 15-9.

The Bears visit No. 8 Arizona on Saturday.
