BERKELEY -  After leading the Cal women's rowing team to its tenth consecutive podium finish at the NCAA Championships, seniors Dorothee Beckendorff, Inger Kavlie, Rowan McKellar, and Kendall Ritter were named 2017 Pocock Division I All-Americans, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches' Association announced Tuesday evening. Beckendorff, Kavlie and McKellar earned first team honors while Ritter was named to the second team.

These awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains on the national level in women's collegiate rowing and the full list of honorees can be found here.

This is the third consecutive year the Golden Bears have had four or more student-athletes earn All-America status and Cal's four All-America selections are tied for the second most by any school in 2017.

In their four years in Berkeley, the senior quartet helped lead the Golden Bears to a pair of Pac-12 Championships in 2015 and 2016 and four consecutive top-two finishes at the NCAA Championships, highlighted by winning the national title in 2016.

"Although Rowan, Inger, Doe, and Kendall are being recognized for their achievements in 2017, we'd like to recognize them for all they've done for the last four years," said Cal head coach Al Acosta. "Their contributions on the water and as selfless leaders off the water have kept the team at or near the top of the podium for their entire Cal career. Our team owes the four of them a huge debt of gratitude for the legacy they have left."

This is the third consecutive year Kavlie has earned first team  All-America status, the first Golden Bear to earn first-team accolades for three or more season since Olympian Kara Kohler '14. Kavlie also earned all-conference honors and all-academic honorable mention earlier this month.

McKellar, stroke for the first varsity eight, earns her first career All-America selection and achieved first team honors on both the All-Conference and Pac-12 All-Academic teams for her performance this season. Beckendorff, a senior from Essen, Germany, also earned her first All-American nod, helping the Bears first varsity eight to an undefeated regular season.

Ritter, a 2017 All-Conference selection, spent time in both the first and second varsity eight boats this season, leading the second varsity eight to a second place finish at the NCAA Championships on Mercer Lake.
