Simon Takes Seventh At NCAAs
EUGENE, Ore. -
Peter Simon ended his 2017 campaign owning the third and fourth-best shot put marks in school history.Â
In first-day action at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday from the Oregon campus, the junior placed seventh in the men's shot put with a mark of 63-11.50, 19.49m. The mark ranks fourth in school history. His PR of 64-9.25, 19.74, from the Pac-12 Championships earlier this season is third.
Simon also earned All-America honors for the first time in his career as the top eight student-athletes in the event garner the honor. Â
"Peter was super today," director of track & field
Tony Sandoval said. "He earned his PR with his win at Pac-12s, and tonight was his second-best effort. This was also Pete's best series ever. I'm so happy for him and Coach Saatara, who guided his development at Cal."Â
