TULSA, Okla. – The remarkable run by California's Jacob Brumm and Yuta Kikuchi came to an end on Saturday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships when they lost to Ohio State's Kyle Seelig and Alex Kobelt in the quarterfinal round. In the battle of the lucky losers, the Golden Bears lost 6-2, 6-3.

The unranked Cal duo upset the No. 1 team in the nation in the first round, knocking off Mississippi State's Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic in the opening round of 32, and then upset Virginia Tech's 16th-ranked Carlo Donato and Mitch Harper in Fridays' round of 16.

"Our guys had a great tournament," said Cal Director of Men's Tennis Petrer Wright. "It's incredibly encouraging to see our young guys doing well on the national stage, and it says a lot about our team when guys like Jacob Brumm and Yuta Kikuchi, who weren't originally selected to compete in the tournament, can take advantage of being on-site alternates to score three NCAA quality wins."

The deep Cal squad sent a large group to Tulsa that included junior Bjorn Hoffmann and sophomores Jack Molloy, Ben Draper, and Paul Barretto.

"All six of our players gained valuable experience by competing in the All-American tournament this year," Wright said. "I know they're all looking forward to coming back to Tulsa next year to do even better."
