SURPRISE, Ariz. – Cal freshman Yuta Kikuchi and sophomore Jacob Brumm posted their third upset win of the season when they beat N.C. State's 15th-ranked Igor Saveljic and Ivan Saveljic, 7-6(2), 6-3, on Thursday at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

The victory moved the Golden Bears into Friday's quarterfinal round, with the Cal duo next facing Florida's 24th-ranked Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen at a time TBA at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex.

Earlier on Thursday, Kikuchi lost in the consolation singles opening round of 32 to USC's Tanner Smith, 6-3, 6-4.

In early October in the ITA All-American Championships, the new – and unranked – pairing of Brumm and Kikuchi upset the nation's top-ranked team from Mississippi State, Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic, and upset Virginia Tech's 16th-ranked pair of Mitch Harper and Carlo Donato as the Bears advanced to the quarterfinals.
