Cal (8-18, 2-11 Pac-12) vs. Stanford (13-13, 7-6 Pac-12)
California men's basketball has a chance at its first regular-season series sweep over Stanford this Sunday when the Golden Bears host the Cardinal in Haas Pavilion. Tipoff from Pete Newell Court is set for 5 p.m., live on ESPNU and KGO 810 AM.
The Bears opened Pac-12 play with a win over the Cardinal at Maples Pavilion for the first time since 2014, downing Stanford 77-74 after overcoming a 17-point second-half deficit. Cal saw double-figure contributions from four of its starters, led by
Marcus Lee's 19 points and seven rebounds.
Justice Sueing turned in pivotal shots down the stretch to pour in 18 points,
Don Coleman scored 15 points and
Darius McNeill added 13.
Sueing, Lee and McNeill have continued their double-digit performances through Pac-12 play, with the freshman Sueing leading the Bears with 15.5 points in league action. The Honolulu, Hawai'i product scored in double figures in every conference game until Feb. 7 at Colorado and is now coming off a two-game span without double-digit outputs. Lee is averaging 12.2 points and shooting 56.9 percent in Pac-12 action, and McNeill has scored in double figures in three-straight games.
Stanford is on a two-game losing streak after also dropping both games to the Mountain schools last weekend. The Cardinal is 2-4 on the road in league play.
