MINNEAPOLIS. – The No. 11 Golden Bears finished their tour of the Midwest on Sunday in a tough battle with the No. 6 Minnesota Gophers which resulted in a 411.150-388.550 loss for California. After a strong showing the weekend before against reigning national champion Oklahoma Sooners, Cal could not find its footing after a difficult opening in Minneapolis.

"Today was a rough meet for the Bears," said head coach JT Okada. "After a slow start to the meet, the last three events picked up the momentum and the team finished with purpose. We will have to be better than this going into next weekend. It will be another short turn around for us as we gear up for our senior meet."

Collectively, the Bears edged the Gophers on the horizontal bar with a 65.200 score. Senior Yordan Aleksandrov led Cal with a 13.950 on the event to finish second overall.

He also highlighted the day for Cal with a third-place showing on the parallel bars, tallying a 13.800 to finish as the runner-up in the all-around with a 78.400.

Cal concludes its regular season at home with a tri-meet that will feature No. 12 Arizona State and No. 16 Washington on Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. (PT). The Bears will celebrate its departing seniors, Yordan Aleksandrov, Bailey Chang, Michael Rauchwerger and Nathaniel Ramil, with a short ceremony before the meet.
