BERKELEY, Calif. – Cal will head to Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle, Washington for the 2018 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship. The Bears will begin competition on Sunday at 10:50 a.m. off the first tee.

Cal will be paired with Arizona for the first round of competition. The second round will start at 9:30 a.m. on Monday followed by a 9 a.m. start for the final round on Tuesday. The 11-team field features some of the best golf squads in the country as seven Pac-12 competitors rank in the top 20 according to Golfweek.

Cal enters the Pac-12 Tournament ranked 38th in the Golfstat Rankings and 40th in the Golfweek rankings, but the Bears are riding high after a second place finish at the Silverado Showdown. Cal surged over their final nine holes as the Bears surged past three teams and took second place in a field featuring five top-10 squads.

The Bears had been dealing with injuries this spring and only recently have been able to field their chosen lineup. The return to health has corresponded with their best play of the season. The second-place finish saw Cal finish second amongst nine Pac-12 schools including topping no. 3 UCLA, no. 6 Stanford, no. 13 Arizona, no. 14 Arizona State and no. 20 Colorado on the leaderboard.

One of the big reasons for Cal's surge has been the return to the lineup of Jiyoon Jang. The sophomore is ranked in the top 25 of both the Golfstat and Golfweek polls after consecutive top five finishes. In her return to the course, Jang tied for third during stroke play at the SDSU March Mayhem. She followed that up with the best 54-hole score at Cal since 2010 when she shot 7-under par at the Silverado Showdown. She has finished in the top 15 in five straight tournaments.

Another key for Cal has been the steady play of junior Marianne Li. Li has recorded six straight finishes in the top-25. She has recorded six straight rounds within two shots of par as she has consistently hit greens and made her putts.

Senior Marthe Wold also played well at the Silverado Showdown as she overcame a slow start to finish 18th. Wold shot a 3-under 69 in the final round as she climbed 16 spots on the final day and her great play helped the Bears surge into second place.

At last year's Pac-12 Championship, Cal finished 10th as they combined to shoot 67-over par across three rounds. The teams had to deal with wind throughout the competition in Tuscon, Arizona. Jang led the way as she tied for 16th with a score of 9-over 225. Her fellow freshman, Maria Herraez shot 16-over to tie for 39th.
