BERKELEY – Before renewing its rivalry with No. 4 Stanford later in the week, California (9-6, 2-2 Pac-12) welcomes crossbay opponent San Francisco (6-14) to the Hellman Tennis Complex on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in a nonconference match that the No. 34 Golden Bears recently added to the schedule. Cal plays Stanford (17-2, 4-1 Pac-12) on Friday at 3 p.m. in part two of the Big Slam.

Tuesday's clash will fill a void left by a rained-out match at Arizona State from March 10.  It will feature the first college dual match between Cal sophomore Dominic Barretto and freshman Paul Barretto and their older brother Marco Barretto, who is a senior for the Dons.

Admission is free at Hellman. Fans can also watch the match and follow live scores via the Hellman live streams by clicking here and can keep track of Cal's matches by following the Bears at twitter.com/calmenstennis.

The Bears dropped a 4-1 result to the Cardinal on Feb. 24, when the rivals clashed in a nonconference match at Hellman. On Friday, Cal will play Stanford in a conference match.

Poll Position
Cal was ranked 34th in last week's Oracle ITA team rankings. In the Oracle ITA individual rankings, the pair of Cal seniors Billy Griffith and J.T. Nishimura (21-8) were ranked No. 27th in last week's doubles poll, while Griffith (13-10) was ranked 57th in singles.

USF's pair of Johan Joenhagen and Mert Zincirli was ranked 76th last week.

The new Oracle ITA team and individual rankings will come out on Tuesday.

Last Time: Bears Top Utah In Rescheduled Match
Thirty-fourth-ranked Cal needed less than two hours to upset No. 32 Utah, 4-0, on Sunday at Hellman. Freshman Jack Molloy clinched the victory with a court-three singles win over Egbert Weverink, 6-3, 6-4, in a match rescheduled from last Friday due to rain.

Cal Earns Head Coaching Endowment
A new endowment announced Jan. 25 to fund the head-coaching position for men's tennis at Cal will be made possible by a $3 million anonymous gift. The position will be named for current Golden Bears boss Peter Wright after his retirement.

The men's tennis head coaching position funded by the endowment has been retitled Director of Men's Tennis, and upon Wright's retirement – nowhere in sight for the 54-year-old coach – the title will officially become the Peter Wright Director of Men's Tennis.

Wright, who has served as Cal's head coach since 1993, is an ITA Regional Coach of the Year, recipient of the 2017 ITA Meritorious Service Award and three-time Conference Coach of the Year. He has taken his Golden Bear teams to the NCAA Tournament 23 times and seen his student-athletes earn 20 All-America selections along with numerous academic awards. A Berkeley native, Wright earned a B.A. in Social Science from Cal, where he played tennis as a four-year letter winner before competing as a professional player, Irish Davis Cup player and Davis Cup captain, and serving as the Irish Olympic tennis coach.
