BERKELEY – Former California men's tennis stars Ben McLachlan and Florian Lakat – both now playing professionally – will make their French Open debuts on Wednesday at Roland-Garros in the doubles opening round of 64. McLachlan and partner Jan-Lennard Struff will face Marcelo Arevalo and James Cerratani at 11 a.m. local time, while Lakat and Arthur Rinderknech will take on John Millman and Nikolaz Basilashvili at 4:15 p.m. local time.

Live scores will be available from the official tournament site here. Fans can watch the French Open on NBC and the Tennis Channel.

The 26-year-old McLachlan, who graduated from Cal in 2014, currently boasts a career-best doubles ranking of 25th in the world. He teamed with Struff, a German, to reach the Australian Open doubles semifinals last summer in McLachlan's first Grand Slam. In early May, McLachlan, who represents Japan, and Struff teamed up to reach the quarterfinals of the Spanish Open. They also advanced to the semifinals of the Hungarian in April and to the semifinals of the Miami Open in March. Just prior to the French Open, McLachlan paired with Poland's Marcin Matkowski at the Lyon Open, with the duo falling in the round of 16.

It's still early in the pro career of the 22-year-old Lakat, who is ranked 265th in doubles. A three-time All-American played for the Bears for two seasons after transferring from Mississippi State and completed his Cal career in 2017. Lakat – a product of Paris, France – partnered with former Cal teammate Andre Goransson of Sweden to play doubles in three Futures tournaments in the United States before the French Open. Lakat and countryman Rinderknech – who recently completed his college career at Texas A&M – have played in several tournaments together, including in Futures tournaments in Belgium and Turkey in the summer of 2017.
