Cal Posts Doubles Win In Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – California sophomores Paul Barretto and Can Kaya – pairing for the first time in doubles – won their round of 32 opener on Thursday at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, defeating Minnesota's Justyn Levin and Jesse Sprinkel, 8-3. But the Golden Bears also lost twice in the singles round of 64 at the Town Club.
 
In singles, Cal junior Dominic Barretto fell to VCU's Inigo Torre Martin, 6-3, 6-3, while Kaya lost to Illinois' Keenan Mayo, 6-2, 6-3.
 
On Friday, Kaya and Paul Barretto will face USC's Logan Smith and Jake DeVine in the doubles round of 16. Dominic Barretto and Kaya will move into the consolation singles round of 16 to play opponents TBA.

Also on Friday, another group of Bears will start play in the three-day Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco.

The Milwaukee Tennis Classic ends on Sunday.
