MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Cal's Paul Barretto and Can Kaya upset the nation's 12th-ranked doubles pair in Saturday's semifinals to secure a berth in Sunday's final of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The Golden Bear sophomores defeated the Hokies' Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro, 8-5, for their third win of the day at the Town Club.
 
The Bears will face Tennessee's Preston Touliatos and Luca Wiedenmann in the final, as Cal seeks its first title in the 43-year history of the tournament. The final will be played indoors at the Al McGuire Center.
 
Earlier on Saturday, Kaya and Barretto beat Gui Gomes and Noe Knlif of Illinois, 6-1, in the quarterfinals, after upsetting USC's top-seeded duo of Jake DeVine and Logan Smith, 6-2, in the morning's round of 16.
 
SAN FRANCISCO – Four Golden Bears bowed out of the Battle in the Bay Classic in singles, with three falling in the main draw's round of 16 and one losing in the consolation bracket at the California Tennis Club.
 
In the main draw, Cal junior Bjorn Hoffmann and freshman Yuta Kikuchi pushed their opponents to three sets apiece. But Hoffmann fell to Texas Tech's 64th-ranked Parker Wynn, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, while Kikuchi lost to San Diego's Gui Osorio, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Jack Molloy, ranked 113th, lost in a close match to UC Santa Barbara's Joseph Guillen, 7-5, 7-6(4).
 
Ben Draper had a bye in the consolation round of 32. But the sophomore fell to Texas Tech's 69th-ranked Tommy Mylnikov, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0(4), in the next round.
