TULSA, Okla. – California's Paul Barretto advanced to qualifying singles after winning two more times in pre-qualifying on Sunday in the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The sophomore defeated Miami's Stephen Madonia, 6-3, 6-0, in the round of 64 and then topped Colin Markes of Texas, 6-1, 6-1, to join Cal sophomores Jack Molloy and Jacob Brumm along with freshman Yuta Kikuchi in the qualifying stage that takes place Monday and Tuesday.

Molloy and Cal sophomore Ben Draper along with Kikuchi and Brumm also start play in qualifying doubles on Monday at the All-American. The main draws are scheduled to start Thursday and end Oct. 8.

DAVIS, Calif. – Cal's Mert Zincirli and Dominic Barretto captured the top-flight (A) doubles title in the Aggie Invitational on Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The two juniors beat Stanford's second-seeded Sangeet Sridhar and Tomas Kopczynski, 8-3, in the final.

"It feels really, really good," Barretto said of winning doubles. "Mert is a super-clutch doubles player. He has nerves of steel."

Barretto – who won the singles B title at the 2017 Aggie Invitational – also played in the singles A semifinal round on Sunday. But he fell to the Cardinal's Timothy Sah, 6-1, 6-4, as the UC Davis tournament came to a close.

The Bears (not including the ones still in Tulsa) next compete in the UCSB Classic that starts Friday in Santa Barbara, California.
