Ahead of Cal's official regular-season opener on Nov. 5, the Golden Bears will offer an exhibition game preview this Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. in Haas Pavilion. A free in-arena videoboard live stream will be available for those not in attendance in Berkeley.
This will be fans' first opportunity to see the new-look Bears under head coach
Mark Fox and a roster that now features seven newcomers, including six freshmen --
Joel Brown (Brampton, Canada),
Kuany Kuany (Melbourne, Australia),
Lars Thiemann (Leverkusen, Germany),
D.J. Thorpe (Lake Travis, Texas) and
Dimitrios Klonaras (Thessaloniki, Greece). Graduate transfer
Kareem South also joined the Bears after a successful career at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, where he was a three-year starter for the Islanders who averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
The Bears return a dynamic scoring duo in

Matt Bradley, who each averaged scoring totals in double figures last season. Cal also welcomes back battle-tested players in
Andre Kelly,

Jacobi Gordon, who all saw time in at least 20 games last season.

SCOUTING SAINT MARTIN'S
• Saint Martin's head coach Aaron Landon is in his first season at the helm of the program.
• The Saints return just three players from last year's squad and were chosen to finish 11th in the GNAC preseason coaches poll.
• The Saints fell to Seattle U in an exhibition earlier this month, losing 92-71 on Oct. 22.
• Cole Alton led the squad with 21 points and added 6 rebounds.Â
• Two other Saints student-athletes scored in double figures -- Alex Schumacher (12) and Marky Adams (10). Both led their team with 8 rebounds apiece.

OFFSEASON OVERHAUL
Cal's offseason roster overhaul started at the top, with head coach
Mark Fox's changes among his coaching staff. He retained assistant coach
Marty Wilson and brought on talented recruiters and veteran coaches in
Andrew Francis and
Chris Harriman. Francis joined the Bears after serving as an assistant under Fran McCaffery at Iowa for nine seasons, while Harriman headed to Berkeley with experience under Rick Majerus (Saint Louis), Tim Miles (Nebraska) and Paul Weir (New Mexico). Fox also brought on longtime colleague, mentor and friend
Trent Johnson as Cal's Deputy Analyst & Director of Player Development. He previously helmed the men's basketball programs at Nevada (1999-2004), where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013, as well as at Stanford (2004-08), LSU (2008-2012) and TCU (2012-16).

• The Golden Bears are projected to finish 12th in the Pac-12, according to a preseason vote by media who regularly cover the conference.
• Oregon is the favorite to win the conference.
• Cal has finished 12th in the league in each of the last two seasons.

Five Golden Bears are listed on NBA rosters this year: Ryan Anderson (Houston Rockets), Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Allen Crabbe (Atlanta Hawks),
Ivan Rabb (New York Knicks) and Tyrone Wallace (Atlanta Hawks). Numerous former members of the Golden Bear roster own front-office roles, including G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd, Nets General Manager Sean Marks and Warriors player development coach
Theo Robertson, as well as several Bears in scouting and development roles or in the G League, including
