Bright’s Singles Run Cut Short At All-American
TULSA, Okla. – Anna Bright lost in her main draw singles opener on Wednesday at the ITA All-American Championships, but the Cal women's tennis junior has another shot at a title with
Jasie Dunk, as the Golden Bear pair starts main draw doubles on Thursday.
Rain delayed the action on Wednesday, with singles matches ultimately moving indoors at the Case Tennis Center at Lafortune Park. All of the doubles matches were postponed until Thursday.
Bright, ranked 42nd in singles, fell to N.C. State's 40th-ranked Alana Smith, 6-0, 6-4, in the singles round of 64.
Dunk and Bright will play the 17th-ranked Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss in the opening doubles round of 32 on Thursday at a time TBA. Bright will likely play in consolation singles on Thursday as well. Please check the tournament central website
