TEMPE, Ariz. -- Freshman
Matt Bradley's 23 points and 10 rebounds weren't enough to lift California men's basketball to a win at Arizona State, and the Golden Bears fell to the Sun Devils, 69-59, Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.
Bradley recorded his first career double-double behind an 8-13 shooting day, including a single-game best five 3-pointers (5-7). He topped his previous career-high total of 19 points, also set against the Sun Devils in January.
The Cal rookie was one of several Bear youngsters with career days, with
Grant Anticevich added a personal-best 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots.
Justice Sueing matched a career-high four-assist total.
Luguentz Dort had 22 points and Rob Edwards scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half to help Arizona State secure a comeback victory as the Sun Devils made up a six-point halftime deficit.
Arizona State came out hot in the second half, putting together a 28-10 run over the first 12-plus minutes to take a 12-point lead. The Sun Devils shot 16 of 28 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, after halftime.
Cal had staged a 20-7 run to close the first half and go into the break leading 34-28.
The last time the Golden Bears led at the half was against UCLA on Feb. 13. They ended up losing to the Bruins 75-67, in overtime.
