SALT LAKE CITY – California's freshmen led the Golden Bears with a pair of event titles in No. 14 Cal's loss at No. 4 Utah, 197.150-196.225, Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City.

Hometown hero Milan Clausi picked up the coveted floor crown in her Salt Lake City debut, and classmate Maya Bordas anchored bars with a clutch performance for a career-best 9.875 for the event title. Bordas also added a career-high 9.80 on floor.

The opening bars rotation saw the Bears hang tough despite a fall near the end of the lineup. Unlike a four-fall lineup several weeks ago at Arizona that left the bars lineup rattled, Cal recovered from All-Pac-12 uneven bars selection Nina Schank's uncharacteristic fall at the No. 5 spot with a well-executed 9.875 routine from Bordas. It was just the second bars performance of her career, and the career-high led a Cal rotation that saw four 9.80s or better. Freshman teammate Talitha Jones matched her career-best 9.80, and Cal tallied a 49.100.

The Bears matched their 49.100 on vault, going 6-for-6, including a pair of 9.85s by both Kyana George and Clausi. Rachael Mastrangelo, Sylvie Seilnacht and Toni-Ann Williams added 9.80s.

Cal's floor rotation included the season debut of Seilnacht, who scored a 9.70 in the anchor spot. George continued a strong afternoon with her season-high 9.85, and Bordas matched her career-high 9.80 on her second event. Clausi's 9.90 led the floor team, which tallied a 49.150 overall.

Cassidy Keelen continued her best season as a beam specialist yet, leading the way on the apparatus with a 9.875, just shy of her career-best 9.90. Clausi matched her personal-best 9.85 on beam, and Sofie Seilnacht added a 9.825 to Cal's 48.875 rotation.

Women's gymnastics remains on the road for a meet at Oregon State on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. Cal's meet against the Beavers airs live on Pac-12 Networks.
