BERKELEY – Juniors Emma Wright and Hannah DeRose combined for six goals during a 7-2 run over a 10-minute span and the No. 4 Cal women's water polo team defeated No. 10 Pacific 15-11 on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

After the Tigers cut the Bears' advantage to 7-6 with just under four minutes left in the first half, Wright scored back-to-back goals – one on the 6-on-5 – to put Cal up by three goals. Pacific answered with a goal but Wright scored again, followed by a goal by DeRose to make it 11-7 with 5:04 to play in the third quarter.

A goal by freshman Carla Traplin followed by two more scores by DeRose put the Bears (6-1) firmly in control.

Wright, who entered the game as the second-leading scorer in the MPSF, finished with four goals overall while DeRose and senior Sarah Siepker added three. Siepker has already set her career-high in scoring with 12 goals on the season.
