No. 31 Cal Falls To No. 6 Baylor In Semis
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - California's hopes of repeating as champion at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge were dashed on Saturday, as the 31st-ranked and fourth-seeded Golden Bears lost to the top-seeded and sixth-ranked Baylor Bears. 4-0, in the semifinals at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Baylor clinched the victory when Constantin Frantzen defeated Cal junior
Dominic Barretto, 7-6(2), 6-2.
The Golden Bears' record now stands at 7-6. Baylor improved to 15-2.

Cal dropped the doubles point when Baylor's second-ranked Sven Lah and Jimmy Bendeck beat the 11th-ranked
Jacob Brumm and
Yuta Kikuchi, 6-2, on court one to clinch.

In singles, Baylor took a 2-0 lead after the 77th-ranked Matias Soto beat Cal sophomore
Jack Molloy, 6-2, 6-4, on court two. Cal trailed 3-0 when junior
Bjorn Hoffmann fell to Baylor's Adrian Boitan, 7-5, 7-5, on court four. Once Baylor clinched on court six, the remaining three matches were abandoned. That included the court-five match, in which Cal sophomore
Ben Draper led Lah, 6-1 5-7, 4-2.

Cal next plays Arizona State in the third-place match on Sunday to close out its run in Indian Wells. The match will start not before 2 p.m. and will be the last match of the day.
