No. 4 Bears Knock Off No. 19 San Jose St.
Cal Builds Big Second-Half Lead, Cruises To Win

Elli Protopapas scored three goals and the No. 4 Cal women's water polo team held No. 19 San Jose State scoreless in the first half on its way to a 10-6 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory on Saturday at West Valley College.

Cassidy Ball played the remainder of the game in the cage for the Bears and added six saves.
Joustra scored two of Cal's first three goals and Protopapas added two in the first half as the Bears led 5-0 at halftime. After the Spartans cut it to 7-3 late in the third period, Protopapas and sophomore
Georgia Gilmore scored back-to-back goals to open up the Bears' lead once again.

Hannah DeRose added goals for the Bears, which converted 50 percent of their 6-on-5 opportunities.
Cal plays its final nonconference match of the season next Friday at No. 5 Hawai'i. The Bears have beaten the Rainbow Wahine twice already this season in close games.
