Five Bears Earn All-Academic Laurels
Women’s Gymnastics Quintet Honored For Standout Academic Performances
SAN FRANCISCO – A quintet of Golden Bears picked up Pac-12 All-Academic laurels for their standout performances in the classroom.
Alma Kuc,
Nina Schank,
Sylvie Seilnacht,
Chelsea Shu and
Emi Watterson are all Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention recipients, the conference announced today.
Seniors Seilnacht (3.42, public health) and Shu (3.36, cognitive science) each picked up their third consecutive all-academic awards.
Sophomores Watterson (3.21, undeclared – intended public health), Kuc (3.25, undeclared – intended molecular biology) and Schank (3.53, undeclared – intended molecular and cell biology) all earned the first honors of their collegiate careers.
To be selected to the all-academic team, student-athletes had to earn a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and must have competed in at least 50 percent of meets in the regular season.
The Golden Bears are in the midst of postseason preparation for the NCAA Athens Regional, where Cal will vie for a berth to the NCAA Championships during the April 5-6 competition. The Bears begin competition on Friday, April 5.
