STANFORD – Senior Aaron Mah headlined his final meet in the Bay Area with a performance that ensured his Stanford rivals would remember his name.

In California's regular season finale at Burnham Pavilion, the Cardinal's home, the Vancouver native, posted a 14.300 score on the floor to take the meet title. The win marks Mah's fifth event title of the year.

What Mah did to cement his legacy, freshman Darren Wong did to build his for the future. Wong came through for the Bears to lead the team in the vault with a score of 14.300 to tie as runner-up on the apparatus. Wong also led Cal in the rings (13.400), pommel horse (13.800), fourth overall, and parallel bars (13.750). He also finished second in the all-around with an 81.300.

Unfortunately, Cal was unable to turn performances into high team scores and eventually fell to Stanford 417.400-396.150.

"It was a rough last week with injuries and illness, but the guys did a great job despite that," said head coach JT Okada. "We have to do a little bit better at conference to make sure we get things together in hopes for the NCAAs. I hope to use this meet as a learning experience for the team.

"A positive was that Anton Vorona came back to competition after being injured for a while and scored 13.200 on rings and we're happy to have him back and look to get some higher scores from him at the conference championship."

Saturday was the first meet of the season where no Bear recorded a season or career best.

The Bears who are currently ranked 11th in the national polls will get an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as long as they can hold onto the spot through the conference championship. The top-12 teams will punch their ticket to the big dance.

Cal opens postseason in Norman, Okla., on April 6 at the MPSF Championships with No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Stanford and No. 13 Air Force, which looks to climb up at least one spot for post-season eligibility.
