Limbhasut Conditionally Exempt For 2019 Mackenzie Tour
Current Senior Ties For 39th In Mackenzie Tour’s Q-School USA West 2 Event
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – KK Limbhasut (75-74-70-71 – 290, +2) played three-under par golf over the final two rounds of the Mackenzie Tour's Q-School USA West 2 event at Wigwam Golf Club to pick up conditionally exempt status for the tour's 2019 schedule. Limbhasut finished in a tie for 39th and was one of the final five players in the field to be awarded the conditionally exempt status that went to the golfers who finished 15th to 40th (including ties) on the final leaderboard.
"KK earning conditional status on the Mackenzie Tour is quite an accomplishment," Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf
Walter Chun said. "He put himself behind the eight-ball given where he was positioned after 36 holes, but he fought his way back to earn status. It's good to keep in mind that he was competing against professional golfers so his last 36 holes showed a great deal of character."
"It is a big step forward in my career to know that I have a status to play professional golf as soon as I graduate from Cal," Limbhasut said. "It means a lot for myself and my family. I was nervous starting the final round and coming down the stretch realizing I am on the bubble for the top 40. I'm very grateful to have pulled through and finished strong."
Limbhasut moved up 11 spots over the final round Friday to secure the top-40 spot and become the second current Cal player to earn status for the 2019 Mackenzie Tour.
Sebastian Crampton, who tied for seventh at the Mackenzie Tour's Q-School USA West 1 event that ended March 29, is guaranteed starts in the first six Mackenzie Tour events of the 2019 season.
Before turning professional, the Cal seniors will wrap up their final regular-season at Cal May 15-17 at the Western Intercollegiate. The post-season begins April 22-24 at the Pac-12 Championships and continues with the NCAA Regionals (May 15-17) and NCAA Championships (May 24-29).
