NORMAN, Okla. – Collin Morikawa was honored Wednesday for the second straight season by the Golf Coaches Association of America as a Division I Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar. Morikawa is one of 17 student-athletes in the history of the Cal men's golf program to earn All-America scholar honors with the group combining to be recognized on 28 occasions.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Morikawa graduated from the prestigious Haas School of Business in four years and finished his four-year Cal playing career at Cal in May. In his first five PGA TOUR events as a pro. he has a pair of top-five finishes, tying for second at the 3M Open the first week of July and tying for fourth the following week at the John Deere Classic. He has been tied for 36th or better in each of the five events including a tie for 35th showing at the U.S. Open in June when he had the best back nine of the day at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Sunday's final round with a five-under par 31.

"Collin truly reached the pinnacle of the student-athlete," Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Walter Chun said. "He's a four-time All American and now a two-time All-America Scholar. That's just the ultimate accomplishment for someone aspiring to combine excellence in school and golf. He's set a precedent that every Cal golfer should aspire towards."
