SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – California junior guard Matt Bradley was one of 20 players across the nation named to the 2021 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award preseason watch list, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday morning.

Named after Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four MVP Jerry West, the annual honor recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men's basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.

As a sophomore in 2019-20, Bradley earned All-Pac-12 Second Team honors while averaging a team-best 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. In addition to being named the Pac-12 Player of the Week twice in a two-month span, Bradley shot 86.8 percent from the free throw line and tallied 11 20-point performances. The San Bernardino, Calif., native is the only Pac-12 player included on the award's preseason watch list.

Cal fans can show their support for Bradley by participating in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies throughout the first three rounds of the selection process. Voting will go live on Nov. 6 at www.hoophallawards.com. In late January, the watch list of 20 players will be narrowed to just 10 and in late February, five finalists will be presented to West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of the award will be presented on April 9, 2021.

Previous winners of the Jerry West Award include Myles Powell (Seton Hall, 2020), RJ Barrett (Duke, 2019), Carsen Edwards (Purdue, 2018), Malik Monk (Kentucky, 2017), Buddy Hield (Oklahoma, 2016) and D'Angelo Russell (Ohio State, 2015).
