TEMPE, Ariz. – Kyana George led a Cal contingent that swept every title in Tempe, but the 10th-ranked Golden Bears fell to Arizona State, 196.300-196.250, Saturday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena.

George picked up four of Cal's five titles, including the all-around crown with a 39.475, while freshman Nevaeh DeSouza earned her first career uneven bars title with a personal-best 9.90. George also won vault, beam and floor to bring her season total to a whopping 12 titles through five meets.

DeSouza finished behind George in the all-around with a career-high 39.375, aided by two career-high event performances.

The Bears entered the season ranked sixth nationally on bars with two Top 10 individuals, but Cal didn't get the start it wanted and was forced to count a fall to put the Bears behind early, 49.225-48.825. DeSouza's career-high 9.90 performance highlighted the first rotation, and Talitha Jones earned a season-best 9.80 as one of four Bears with a 9.80 or better. Emi Watterson earned a 9.875 for second place, and George added a 9.85.

Cal tightened the gap on vault, matching a season-high 49.175 team total with every gymnast turning in a 9.75 or higher on the event. DeSouza tallied her second career-best on the day with a 9.85, and George took home her fourth vault title of the season with a 9.875. Rachael Mastrangelo upped her season-high to 9.85.

On floor, Cal went 49.0 for the third consecutive meet with a 6-for-6 lineup. Mastrangelo continued her season-best outing with a 9.75, and Clausi and Desouzi each added 9.825s to share second on the event. George won floor with a 9.875.

With Cal behind by less than two-tenths, the Bears had one more chance to catch up to the Sun Devils. While the deficit proved to be too much to overcome, Cal did its best with another 49.175 showing. The Bears went 6-for-6 on beam, with five of their six competitors going 9.80 or better. Jones led off with a new season-best 9.825, a mark that teammate Maya Bordas would match to share third on the event. Milan Clausi matched her season-high 9.85 to take the runner-up spot behind George's 9.875.

Meanwhile, Arizona State topped the 49.0 mark on floor to close out their portion of the meet, slipping past Cal by just .050.

Cal hosts Utah in its second home meet of the season next weekend in Berkeley. The Bears welcome the Utes on Saturday, Feb. 8 for a 12:30 p.m. dual meet airing live on the Pac-12 Networks. Saturday's meet includes a celebration of 150 Years of Women at Berkeley and also marks the annual Alumnae Meet.
