Cal-Washington State Postgame Notes

  • Starters – Paris Austin, Joel Brown, Matt Bradley, Grant Anticevich, Andre Kelly
  • 3 Bears scored in double figures: Paris Austin (19), Andre Kelly (16), Matt Bradley (11)
  • Austin mached a school record for free throw percentage in league play, matching Larry Friend's record of 12-12 shooting at UCLA in 1956. The Cal single-game record is held by Ray Murry vs. LSU (14-14 on Dec. 22, 1976).
  • Kelly scored in double figures for the third time in the last six games. Prior to the six-game span, he had scored in double figures in just three of the first 20 contests.
  • Joel Brown dished out a career-high 4 assists. His previous high was 3, which he recorded in 7 games this season.
  • California's 12-point lead at halftime was its largest at the half all season.
  • The Bears shot 50.0 percent (13-26) in the first half.
  • Cal made all 15 of its first 15 free throws before Grant Anticevich missed two at 3:53. If it stood, Cal's perfect 15-15 mark would have set a new school record, topping a previous team-high of 14-14 at Arizona State on Jan. 28, 2010.
  • Cal shot a season-best 87.5 percent (21-24) from the free throw line, the eighth time this season the Bears shot above 80.0 percent.
  • This is Cal's first two-game regular-season sweep of the Cougars since 2013-14. The Bears took the series wins over the Cougs in 2016 and 2017 but the two teams played just once each season.
  • It is also Cal's first two-game regular-season sweep over any Pac-12 opponent since 2016-17. That season, Cal swept both Oregon State and Arizona State in two-game series.
  • This is Cal's first win in Pullman since the 2015-16 season, when Cal topped Washington State 80-62.
  • With the win, Cal matched its Pac-12 win total from the previous two seasons combined (2017: 2-16; 2018: 3-15).
