Bears Earn Win Over No. 21 Colorado, 76-62

  • With tonight's 76-62 win over No. 21 Colorado, Cal earned its first victory over a top-25 team since the Bears defeated No. 25 Washington, 76-73, on Feb. 28, 2019.
  • Cal's last win over Colorado was a 77-66 decision on Feb. 5, 2017, in Berkeley.
  • Cal outscored Colorado, 21-5, in points off turnovers and committed just 8 turnovers for the game.
  • Matt Bradley tied his career high with 26 points for his 10th 20-point game of the season. He has now reached double figures in all but one game this season. Bradley also scored 26 points vs. Washington State on Jan. 9
  • Bradley also went 5-for-7 from 3-point range to extend his streak to at least one 3-pointer in every Pac-12 game this season. He has made at least two from behind the arc in 12 of his past 15 games. Bradley's five 3-pointers matched a career high (twice previously, most recently vs. Pepperdine in the season opener).
  • Cal led, 38-26, at halftime, tying for the Bears' largest halftime lead this season (also at Washington State last week, 32-20).
  • Kareem South totaled 19 points to reach double digits for the first time since he had 13 vs. Oregon on Jan. 30. The total was one point shy of his Cal best of 20 points at USF. He had 29 points last year vs. Stephen F. Austin while playing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
  • Grant Anticevich tied his career high with 4 assists.
  • D.J. Thorpe and Kuany Kuany both earned their first career starts.
  • Shareef Abdur-Rahim received the Pete Newell Career Achievement Award during a halftime ceremony. The 1995-96 Pac-10 Player of the Year, he serves as president of the NBA's G League following along playing career.
  • Pete Newell served as Cal's head coach from 1954-60, leading the Bears to the NCAA Championship in 1959 and a runner-up finish in 1960. He later guided the U.S. Olympic team to a gold medal in Rome and served as Cal's director of athletics from 1960-68. Newell is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame.
