Â
In addition to his decorated collegiate swimming career, Sendyk excelled academically at the nation's No. 1 public university as a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and three-time Pac-12 Conference academic honoree. He maintained the top GPA (3.56) on the Cal men's swimming & diving team for two straight years before graduating.
Â
As a standout sprinter in the pool, Sendyk earned 18 career CSCAA All-American marks while helping lead the Golden Bears to the 2019 NCAA team title and three consecutive Pac-12 championships (2018-20). As a junior in 2019, Sendyk was a member of Cal's 200-yard freestyle relay team that won the national title. He also tallied 12 Pac-12 titles over four years, with nine coming in relay events.
Â
Sendyk, a native of Gryfino, Poland, became the fourth Golden Bear men's swimmer to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors. He joined Bengt Baron (1985), Nathan Adrian (2010-11) and
Ryan Murphy (2015-17).
Â
To be eligible for Academic All-America® distinction, nominees must have reached at least sophomore academic standing and carry a 3.30 GPA or higher at his/her institution to go along with legitimate athletic contributions. Despite the cancelation of spring competitions during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.
