Rising senior Claire Sonne has been honored with an outstanding ACWPC All-Academic Award for the third straight year, one of nine Cal women's water polo student-athletes to earn honors for their work in the classroom.

Sonne, a Gender & Women's Studies major with a 3.76 cumulative GPA, was joined in the outstanding category by rising sophomore Sydney Hammill, who has the highest GPA on the team at 3.93. Outstanding status is awarded to those student-athletes with a cumulative GPA between 3.71 and 4.00.

Recent graduates Hannah DeRose, Daily Hartmeier and Cam Greer, along with rising junior Cynthia Mulder, each earned a superior All-Academic Award for having a cumulative GPA between 3.41 and 3.70. DeRose was recognized in each of her four years at Cal.

Recent graduate Jackie Sanders and rising seniors Georgia Gilmore and Brigit Mulder each were honored with excellent status for a GPA between 3.20 and 3.40. It was the third ACWPC All-Academic honor for Sanders and second for Gilmore and Mulder.

The Bears were also recognized with a team All-Academic award for having a cumulative GPA over 3.00.

Brigit Mulder, Sonne and DeRose all were also named ACWPC All-Americans for their performance in the pool in 2020. The Bears finished the shortened season with a record of 11-7 and ranked No. 9 in the country
