The Cal women's golf team's 2021 recruiting class features three student-athletes with extensive international experience and a strong connection to the University, all hungry to excel athletically and academically once they arrive on campus.

Head Coach Nancy McDaniel has announced the signings of the program's three newest Golden Bears – Olivia Lee and Anna Molloy of Gerrards Cross, England and Adora Liu of Fremont.

"We were looking for the highest student-athlete combination, and they are all so solid in both of those realms," McDaniel said. "They all have a real sense of wanting to improve, wanting to learn, and are very coachable. All three have shown the ability to shoot under par and win, and are ready to take their experience to the next level. They are all very curious about the resources we have at Cal, and they are all very hungry to take advantage of them."

Lee is a member of the England Girls Squad and a former competitor with the England Regional Squad. She tied for fifth at the English Girls Championship and became the first female ever to win the Peter McEvoy Trophy, one of the most prestigious amateur tournaments in Europe.

"Olivia is the consummate student-athlete," McDaniel said. "She's going to hit the ground running with her solid academic background and the commitment she has to her game. She has a lot of fun on the golf course, and she shows great creativity in how she manages her game."

Liu is a former teammate of current Golden Bear Mika Jin at Irvington High School in Fremont and was the 2020-21 JTNC Player of the Year after winning four tournaments, including the NCGA Junior Championship. Liu finished in a tie for fifth at the CIF Northern California Tournament earlier this week and advanced to the CIF State Championship next week at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.

"Adora has a really independent nature and a real consistent work ethic," McDaniel said. "She's in for the daily grind. I think her love of Cal goes a long way. Having local players on our team bring a spirit and a pride that is built in from growing up around Cal, and it's priceless. It's just a feeling that they are in the right place."

Molloy is the younger sister of former Cal men's tennis player Jack Molloy. She was a member of the England Golf Regional Squad and qualified for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship. Molloy also finished ninth at the 2021 English Girls Championship.

"Anna is coming through a regional squad that has solid training and great coaching," McDaniel said. "She was able to watch what her brother did at a young age, and knows she can do it. She's done her homework at Cal. She has a love of Cal already. She's kind of read the book, and now she wants to start her own chapter."
