Bears Flying Home From Utah With A Win
Cal Claims 12 Of 14 Races To Defeat Utah, 160-100
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Sixth-ranked Cal won 12 of 14 events, including two each by
Ayla Spitz,
Isabel Ivey and
Sarah DiMeco, to defeat Utah, 160-100, in a dual meet Friday.

DiMeco claimed the two distance freestyle races, first taking the 1000-yard free in 10:17.47 for a two-second edge over teammate
Robin Neumann. Later in the meet, she claimed the 500 free in 5:02.18.

Spitz was the next to get in on the action, starting with the 200 free as her time of 1:49.83 led a 1-2-3-4 Cal finish with
Lizzy Cook,
Alicia Wilson and
Eloise Riley right behind. Spitz also prevailed in the 200 back with a two-second victory in 2:01.26.

Isabel Ivey continued to get her hand two the wall with her wins in the 100 back (53.31) and 100 free (50.55).

Others to capture first place on the day were
Alicia Henry in the 100 breast (1:02.52),
Rachel Klinker in the 200 fly (2:00.09, with Cook and
Mia Kragh second and third), Kragh in the 100 fly (55.60) and Wilson in the 400 IM (4:22.00).

The Bears also took first place in both relays, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:40.21 with a team comprised of
Isabelle Stadden,
Ema Rajic,
Emily Gantriis and
Elise Garcia. Ivey, Gantriis, Garcia and
Ella Mazurek closed out the competition with a victorious time of 1:32.24 in the 200 free relay.

Cal returns to action Dec. 1-4 when the Bears travel to the Minnesota Invitational for their big mid-season invitational. Cal's next home meet is Dec. 18 vs. UC San Diego.
