Kennedy Named MPSF Newcomer Of The Week
Freshman Tallied Seven Points In Bears' 3-0 Weekend
WOODLAND, Calif. – California men's water polo freshman attacker
Tommy Kennedy was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/KAP7 Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Kennedy, a native of Newport Beach, Calif., totaled three goals and four assists over the weekend in Los Angeles as the No. 2 Bears went 3-0, defeating No. 2(T) UCLA, No. 2(T) USC and No. 1 Stanford. He is the first Golden Bear to earn an MPSF weekly honor this season.

Making his collegiate debut on Saturday, the attacker finished with one goal and one assist in the 11-8 win over USC. On Sunday, he had two goals on three shots (66.7 percent) and two assists in Cal's 16-11 win over rival Stanford.

Kennedy joined the Bears this season after playing for Newport Harbor High School and Newport Water Polo Foundation. The nephew of Cal water polo alumni Eriks Krumins (1989-92) and Rik Krumins (1993-96) also played for the USA Water Polo Cadet Team and USA Water Polo Youth National Team. Kennedy earned Third Team High School All-American honors in 2019.
