Six Cal women's water polo student-athletes have earned All-MPSF recognition, the conference office announced Thursday.

Seniors Brigit Mulder and Cassidy Ball and junior Kitty Lynn Joustra were named to the All-MPSF Second Team while junior Elli Protopapas garnered honorable mention. Freshmen Reagan Whitney and Maryn Dempsey were named to the MPSF All-Newcomer Team.

Mulder, a 2020 ACWPC First Team All-American, is tied for sixth in the MPSF with 2.8 points per game and ninth at 1.9 goals per game. She is 10th in the conference in total goals with 30 and was named the MPSF Player of the Week on Feb. 23. This marks Mulder's second straight All-MPSF honor after earning First Team recognition last year.

Ball, who was an ACWPC All-American Honorable Mention last year, earned her first All-MPSF honor. She ranks fourth in the conference with a .491 save percentage and is fifth with 111 saves. Ball was named the MPSF Player of the Week on April 6.

Joustra has scored 18 goals despite missing the first five games of the season with an injury. Now a three-time All-MPSF selection, she also has 34 earned exclusions and is coming off an eight-goal weekend in two games against Indiana last weekend.

Protopapas is tied for fifth in the MPSF with 1.3 assists per game and is 10th with 1.3 steals per game. She has also scored 21 goals this season. Protopapas also was named to the MPSF All-Newcomer Team as a freshman.

Whitney ranks third on the Bears with 20 goals while also adding 14 steals. She was also the MPSF Newcomer of the Week on March 2.

Dempsey has had a fine all-around season with 15 goals, 14 steals, nine assists and six field blocks. She is also fifth in the MPSF sprint win percentage (.769).

The No. 4 Bears open play in the 2021 MPSF Championships on Friday against No. 5 Arizona State at 2 p.m. Live video (fee-based) and live stats will be available on CalBears.com.
