Brian Mann Named Athletic Director At William & Mary
Cal's Chief Development Officer Set To Assume New Role
BERKELEY -
Brian Mann, who has served as Cal's Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Development Officer since early 2019, has been named the new Director of Athletics at William & Mary.
Â
"Brian has been a critical leader in Cal Athletics during his time with us in Berkeley," Cal Director of Athletics
Jim Knowlton said. "He is an exceptional teammate whose values and vision truly embody what Cal Athletics and UC Berkeley are all about. We are excited for this opportunity for Brian, Hilary and their young son, Russell, and we know that he is truly going to bring excellence to William & Mary. William & Mary is lucky to have a leader of such quality."
Â
Under Mann's direction, Cal Athletics made significant strides in its philanthropy and development operations. The department surpassed $35 million in gifts and pledges each of the past two fiscal years and has raised more than $250 million towards the $350 million Light the Way campaign goal for Cal Athletics. In addition, the efforts of Mann and his development team have generated high levels of success supporting the Cameron Institute and the Gender Equality projects, as well as secured endowments for several of head coaching positions.
Â
"Hilary and I came to Cal as a couple ready for an adventure, but not entirely sure what to expect," Mann said. "We leave as husband and wife, and new parents, with an incredible level of gratitude for our time with some of the most impressive student-athletes, coaches and staff we have known. We will forever be grateful for our time at Cal and thank
Jim Knowlton and his wife, Corey, for all they have done to make this time special."

Associate Athletics Director for Development
Beth Tafolla-Voetsch will serve as the interim Chief Development Officer following Mann's departure.
