Bears Set For Wave I Of U.S. Olympic Trials
Cal Swimmers Prepared For Four-Day Wave I Meet In Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. – Wave I of the 2021 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials starts Friday at the CHI Health Center, and six Golden Bears will represent the California men's swimming & diving program across four days of competition on June 4-7.

Tyler Kopp,
Colby Mefford,
Kyle Millis and
Michael Petrides – all current members of Cal's collegiate team – are listed on the Wave I psych sheet. The top two finishers in each event at Wave I will advance to the Wave II meet on June 13-20, which will determine the U.S. Olympic Team that will compete in Tokyo.

Prelims will begin at 8 a.m. (PDT) and be
streamed by USA Swimming, while
Olympic Channel will broadcast the nightly finals at 5 p.m. (PDT).

Cal's six swimmers competing in Wave I will swim in a total of nine events:

The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials were split into two meets – Wave I and Wave II – to allow for a smaller number of athletes to be on site at the CHI Health Center in Omaha amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The swimmers who are competing in Wave I this weekend met the original Olympic Trial qualifying times, while swimmers who hit a more recent, faster set of qualifying times were invited to Wave II.
