Cal Takes Down USC On The Road, 157-137
Bears Get Help Throughout Their Lineup, Head To UCLA Saturday
LOS ANGELES – With
Isabel Ivey and
Isabelle Stadden winning two events apiece and Cal getting key swims throughout its lineup, the seventh-ranked Golden Bears emerged with a 157-137 victory at No. 10 USC Friday afternoon.

The Trojans captured the first two races of the day before Cal responded and won nine of the final 12 events. Ivey started the run with her 1:46.36 time to take the 200 free, and Stadden followed with a triumph in the 100 back in 52.96.

In the 200 fly, the Bears swept the top three places with
Rachel Klinker in first (1:56.12),
Mia Kragh second (1:58.53) and
Lizzy Cook third (1:58.63).
Elise Garcia then came through in the 50 free, reaching the wall in 22.94 for a 0.01-second victory over USC's Hanna Henderson.

After the mid-meet break, Ivey and Stadden went back-to-back again for the Bears. Ivey led the field in the 100 free (49.41) before Stadden claimed the 200 back in 1:56.31). In the 500 free,
Ayla Spitz posted a two-second win in 4:50.24. The Bears' final individual victory came in the 100 fly when Kragh, who trailed at the midway point, surged through the last 50 yards to finish more than a second in front in 53.32.

Cal clinched the meet by going 1-2 in the 400 free relay to outscore USC, 15-2, in the event.

The Bears return to action to complete their Los Angeles swing when they battle UCLA Saturday at 12 noon.
